‘Frank' The Tumor Overcome Through Positive Thinking
A little nine year old boy, named David Dingman-Grover, had a tumor called Frank removed from his brain on February 2nd, 2008. The diagnosis was stated in May 2003 as malignant. The family however couldn’t pay for it all by themselves. So in turn, the mother ended up putting up an auction on the Net to help pay for the surgery. The boy seemed to always have a bright and outgoing personality as his mother put it, but to name a tumor that’s growing in your head seems a little far out. The tumor was the size of a grape which indicates it was relatively far through its growth. The tumor's name came about from David’s fear of Frankenstein. Up to the point of Halloween that year, David had been scared of the monster. It wasn’t until he dressed up as one himself that he got over that fear. David realized you don’t beat your fear by running from it and allowing it to grow inside of you. Frank was David's fear, a tumor that was growing inside of him just like his old fear of monsters had. The tumor would have surely overcome David, but today, he is fully recovered after the successful surgery thanks to his optimistism and willingness to overcome his struggles. |
